लल्लन प्रसाद ठाकुर 1951-1995

जन्म ५ फरबरी १९५१ मुंगेर मे श्रीमती सुभद्रा देवी आ श्री हीरानंद ठाकुरक द्वितीय बालक । हिनक ग्राम- समौल,जिला-मधुबनी। सिविल इंजीनियर, टाटा स्टीलमे चाकरी। प्रकाश झाक फ़िल्म "कथा माधोपुर की" मे मुख्य भुमिका। नाटककार आ मंच अभिनेता। हुनक लिखल किछु प्रसिद्ध मैथिली नाटक छन्हि :बडका साहेब,मिस्टर निलो काका, लोंगिया मिरचाई,बकलेल आदि वा अंत।


हमर मात्रिक सहरसा अछि। हमर पितिऔत बहिन जे कि हमर मसिऔत सेहो छथि हुनक विवाह सहरसा मे छलैन्ह हम सब ओहि विवाह मे जमशेदपुर सs गेल रही। हमर मात्रिक मे सभ कियो एक सs एक गायक छथि। कोनो विवाह वा यज्ञ होइत छैक तs यज्ञ खतम भेलाक बाद पूरा परिवार दलान पर बैसि जाइत छथि आ गाना बजाना होइत रहैत छैक। ओहियो दिन हम सब बाहर बैसल रही आ गाना बजाना होइत छलैक ओहि बीच मे एकटा वृद्ध व्यक्ति अयलाह। मामा सब हमरा सब के बजा हुनका सs परिचय करेलैन्ह आ कहलथि इ छथि "लिलो काका"। हम नाम बड सुनने रहियैन्ह मुदा भेंट हुनका सs पहिल बेर भs रहल छल। पॉँच दस मिनट हुनका सs हम सब गप्प कयलहुँ ताहि के बाद ओ चलि गेलाह। ओतबहि काल मे दू टा गप्प हुनक विषय मे हम सब बुझलहुँ पहिल जे हुनका सांप स बड डर लागैत छलैन्ह दोसर हुनका कियो बुढ कहैन्ह से पसीन नहि छलैन्ह। हुनका गेलाक बाद तुंरत इ हमरा कहलाह हमर दोसर नाटकक नाम भेंट गेल "लिलो काका"।

"बड़का साहेब" नाटक मे महिला शाखा केर हस्तक्षेप आ नाटक केर पूर्वाभ्यास के बीच मे जे नाटक सब होइत छलैक ताहि सs तंग आबि सोचि लेने छलथि जे आब दोसर संस्था के लेल नाटक नहि करब। "मिथिला सांस्कृतिक" परिषद नाटक के पाछू पाई खर्च करय लेल सेहो तैयार नहि रहैक। इ सब सोचि अपन अभिन्न मित्र बालमुकुन्द जी , श्री बैद्यनाथ जी आ श्री पूर्णानंद जी के सँग लs आ हुनका सबहक सहयोग स एकटा नाट्य संस्था के स्थापना कयलैन्ह जाहि केर नाम राखल गेलैक "मिथिलाक्षर" (नाट्य एवं संगीत संस्था)। मिथिलाक्षर के bye laws मे देल गेलैक जे ओ व्यक्ति एहि संस्थाक सदस्य भs सकैत अछि जे कोनो तरहक कलाकार हो व कला से प्रेम राखैत हो मुदा सदस्यताक लेल कोनो शुल्क नहि छलैक।

हिनकर आदति छलैन्ह जे कैयेक टा नाटकक नाम लैत रहैत छलाह। मिथिलाक्षरक स्थापनाक बाद तय भेलैक जे शीघ्र एकटा नाटक कायल जाय। कलाकार सब केर एकटा बैठक बजायल गेलय आ ओहि मे तय भेलैक जे नाटक होयत आ दू दिन नाटक होयत। एकटा हिन्दी आ एकटा मैथिली मे। कलाकार सब के नाटक केर नाम से बता देल गेलय मैथिली मे "लिलो काका"। जखैन्ह हिन्दी केर नाटक के नाम कलाकार सब पुछलथिन तs कहि देलथिन"डम डम डिगा डिगा "। मैथिली नाटकक नाम तs हमरा बुझल छल हिन्दी वाला सुनि हमरो आश्चर्य भेल। ओ नाम हुनका तत्काल ध्यान मे अयलैन्ह आ कहि देने रहथि।

"लिलो काका" नाटक जाहि समय लिखैत छलाह ओहि बीच में एक दिन हमरा ओकर संवाद सुनाबैत कहलाह लिलो काका के अंत में हम मारि देबैन्ह से इ नाटक केर नाम हम सोचि रहल छि लिलो काका सs "मिस्टर नीलो काका " कs दिये आ ओहि दिन सँ लिलो काका सँ नाटकक नाम "मिस्टर नीलो काका "भs गेलय।

"मिस्टर नीलो काका" आ "डम डम डिगा डिगा" केर पूर्वाभ्यास (रिहल्सल) जाहि समय होइत छलैक ओहि समय हम सपरिवार सब दिन रिहल्सल में जाई। अपने नीलो काका केर मुख्य भूमिका क रहल छलाह विक्की से ओहि में बालकलाकार के भूमिका में छलाह पुत्तु हिन्दी वाला नाटक के बालकलाकार छलाह आ बचलहुँ हम तs हमर काज पहिल छल जे सब दिन रति में घर आबि ओहि दिनका पूर्वभ्यासक समीक्षा केनाई दोसर कहि देने छलाह जे मंच पर बेसी भीर नहीं लगेबाके अछि ताहि हेतु ओ हमरे सम्हारे के छल। हम सब, सब दिन साँझ ६बजे रिहल्सल लेल जाई आ राति ९ बजे सँ पहिने कहियो नहिं लौटी।लौटलाक बाद बालमुकुन्द चौधरी आ इ बैसैथ आ ओहि समय व्यवस्था केर काज आ विचार विमर्श सब होय। कहि सकैत छि जे जूता सिलाई से लs कs चंडी पाठ तक स्वयं हिनके सम्भारय के छलैन्ह। बालमुकुन्द जी तs संग रहबे करैत छलाह।

नाटक सs पहिनहि सबटा टिकट बिका गेल छलैक दुनु नाटकक सफल मंचन भेलैक आ मैथिली के संग संग हिन्दी प्रेमी सब के सेहो नाटक में एकटा नवीनता भेटलैक। रातों राति जमशेदपुरक मंच आ जमशेदपुर केर नाट्य प्रेमी के बीच श्री लल्लन प्रसाद ठाकुर केर नाम आबि गेलैन्ह।

"मिस्टर नीलो काका" आ "डम डम डिगा डिगा" केर सफल मंचनक किछु महिना बाद पटनाक मैथिली संस्था "अरिपन "एकटा अन्तराष्ट्रीय नाट्य समारोहक निमंत्रण पठेने रहैक जाहि के इ स्वीकार क लेलाह। कलाकार सब स पूछल गेलय तs सब तैयार छलाह। समय बहुत कम छलैक मुदा नाटक केर सफल मंचन आ कलाकार सब के उत्साह हिनका और उत्साहित क देलकैन्ह। रिहल्सल ठीक ठाक चलैत छलैक अचानक एक दिन एकटा कलाकार जिनकर नाम लक्ष्मीकांत छलैन्ह आ जे सनिचराक भूमिका मे छलाह अयलाह आ कहलाह हुनक गाम गेनाइ बड़ आवश्यक छैन्ह मुदा ओ चारि पॉँच दिन में आबि जयताह। हिनकर मोन तs नहि मानलैंह मुदा फेर सोचलाह कैल नाटक छैक आ ओ आश्वासन देने छथि तs आबिये जयताह। रिहल्सल चलैत छलैक ओहि बीच एक दिन सांझ मे हम सब रिहल्सल लेल पहुँचलहुँ तs एक महिला कलाकार जे काकी के भूमिका में छलिह हुनकर समाद अयलैन्ह जे ओ पटना नहि जा सकैत छथि हुनका कोनो आवश्यक काज स शहर स बाहर जाय परि रहल छैन्ह। इ सुनतहि इ चिंतित भ गेलाह ओहि दिन रहल्सल की हेतैक सब कियो विकल्प के विषय मे सोचय लागि गेलहुँ। कलाकार सब के कहि देल गेलय घर जेबाक लेल, आ इ जे काल्हि धरि किछु ने किछु हेबे विकल्प भा जेतैक कलाकार सब के गेलाक बाद हम चारू गोटे आ बालमुकुन्द जी बाचि गेलहुँ मुदा हमरा सब के किछु नहि फुरैत छल। इ दुनु गोटे हमरा सs सेहो विकल्प केर विषय मे पुछलाह मुदा हमहु निरुतर रही, की कहितियैन्ह। आब त इज्जत के सवाल भs गेल छलैक।

बालमुकुन्द जी आ इ किछु समय के लेल बाहर गेलाह आ भीतर आबि हमरा कहलाह, "आब इ अहींके करय पडत"। इ सुनतहि हमरा हँसी लागि गेल, इहो हँसय लगलाह। किछु समय बाद इ गंभीर भs कहलाह "आब हम मजाक नहि क रहल छी"। आब इ हमर सबहक इज्जत केर सवाल छैक आ हमरा सब के दोसर स्त्री पात्र एतेक कम समय मे भेन्टनाइ बहुत कठिन अछि दोसर हमरा अहाँ पर विश्वास अछि अहाँ इ भूमिका निक सs कs सकैत छि।" हम निरुत्तर भ गेलहुं कहितियैन्ह की, इज्जत के सवाल छलैक। तय भेलय जे काल्हि सs हम काकी के भूमिका मे रहब आ रिहल्सल करब।

दोसर दिन हम सपरिवार रिहल्सल के लेल पहुँचि गेलहुँ आन दिन तs हम तरह तरह के टिप्पणी दैत छलहुँ मुदा ओहि दिन एकटा कलाकार के रूप मे पहुँचल रही। कलाकार सब के कहि देल गेलैंह जे आय स काकी के भूमिका मे हम रहब। हमर सब संवाद हिनके संग छलैन्ह अर्थात काकी के सब टा संवाद काका के संग छलैन्ह जे हमरा लेल बड़ कठिन छल। एक तs एतेक नीक कलाकार आ ताहू मे पति संग अभिनय केनाई । खैर रिहल्सल शुरू भेलय जखैन्ह हमर संवादक समय आयल तs हम उठि कs स्टेज दिस गेलहुँ मुदा जहिना हमर संवादक समय आयल आ हम जहिना हिनका दिस देखलियैन्ह हमरा हँसी छुटि गेल हमरा सँग चौधरी जी सेहो हँसि देलाह। ओकर बाद हम कैयेक बेर प्रयास केलहुँ मुदा जहिना हिनका दिस नजरि जाय कि हमरा हँसि छुटि जाय आ संग मे चौधरी जी सेहो हँसि दैथि। अंत मे चौधरी जी के बाहर जाय लेल कहल गेलैंह मुदा कथि लेल हमर हँसि रुकत। ओहि दिन आन सब कलाकार अपन अपन पाठ कs घर जाय गेलाह । इ सब कलाकार के आश्वासन देलथिन जे घबरेवा के नहि छय काकी वाला भूमिका निक होयबे करत।

दोसर दिन हम सोचि क आयल रही जे हम हँसब नहि आ नीक सs रिहल्सल करब मुदा जहिना हमर बेर आबै हँसि हम नहि रोकि पाबी। इ अंतिम दिन रिहल्सल तक चललय मुदा घर मे कखनहु कखनहु इ हमरा किछु किछु बताबैत रहैत छलाह। हमरा अपनहि बड़ चिंता होय जे की होयत मुदा इनका हमरा पर पूर्ण भरोस छलैन्ह आ सब के कहैथ "चिंता जुनि करय जाय जाऊ इ स्टेज पर एके बेर कs लेतिह हमरा पूर्ण विश्वास अछि"। हम त हिनकर विश्वास देखि कs दंग रही मुदा अपना हमरा डर लागैत छल।

लक्ष्मीकांत नहि अयलाह आ समाद पठौलैन्ह जे ओ सीधे पटना पहुँचि जयताह। हम सब पटना के लेल बिदा भेलहुँ रास्ता मे इ हमर बड़का बेटा भास्कर के किछु किछु बुझाबैत जाइत छलाह पटना पहुँचलहुँ ओहिओ ठाम लक्ष्मीकांत नहि पहुँचलाह। हम सब जाहि दिन पहुँचल रही ताहि दिन साँझ मे हमर सबहक स्टेज रिहल्सल छल। भोर स इ भास्कर के सनिचराक पाठ याद करय लेल कहने रहथि संग संग अपनहु रहैत छलाह। होटल मे दू बेर रिहल्सल भेलैक आ साँझ मे स्टेज रिहल्सल। दोसर दिन श्री ठाकुर सपरिवार कलाकार सब सँग नाटक लेल तैयार रहथि। नाटक पटना आ पूरा मिथिला मे धूम मचा देलक।

मिस्टर नीलो काका के कैयेक टा पुरस्कार भेन्टलय, श्री ठाकुर के श्रेष्ठ कलाकार , श्रेष्ठ आलेख तथा श्रेष्ठ महिला कलाकार के लेल हमरा हमर छोट बालक के श्रेष्ठ बालकलाकार के लेल सेहो पुरष्कृत कायल गेलैन्ह।
१३ जून १९८५ के भारतीय नृत्य कला मन्दिर मे "मिस्टर नीलो काका" कs सफल मंचन के पश्चात् प्रति वर्ष अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नाट्य प्रतियोगिता मे मिथिलाक्षर आ "श्री लल्लन प्रसाद ठाकुर" जी कs नाटक सब बेर पुरस्कार लैत रहलैन्ह आ मैथिली दर्शक आ नाट्य प्रेमी के सब बेर एक टा नव सामाजिक विषय पर नाटकक नीक प्रस्तुति देखय के लेल भेँटैत रहलैन्ह।

१९८६ मे अंतर्राष्ट्रीय नाट्य प्रतियोगिता के लेल जहिया निमंत्रण आयल छलैक ओहि समय "श्री लल्लन प्रसाद ठाकुर"जी के लिखल नाटक सब मंचित भs चुकल छलैन्ह मुदा नव नाटक केर नाम ओ सोचि कs रखने रहथि। जहिया निमंत्रण आयल छलैक ओकर बाद कलाकार सब के एकटा बैठक भेलैक आ ओहि मे नाटक जे अन्तराष्ट्रीय समारोह मे जएबाक छलैक ओकर नाम बतायल गेलैक। नाटक केर नाम "लौंगिया मिरचाइ " सुनतहि कलाकार सब बड खुश भेलाह मुदा जखैन्ह इ सुनालाह जे मात्र नाम टा लिखल छैक तs पहिने त किछु कलाकार मायुस भेलाह मुदा सब बेर नाटक मे ओहिना होइत छलैक आ ता धरि कलाकार सब श्री लल्लन जी के प्रतिभा सँ परिचित भs गेल छलाह।

कलाकार सब केर बैठकी के बाद ओहि दिन राति मे बैसि कs पात्र आ "पहिल दृश्य" लिखि देलाह आ हमरा ओ कैयेक बेर सुनय परल। ओकर बाद रबि दिन सs रिहर्सल सेहो शुरू भs गेलैक। एक दृश्यक रिहर्सल कतेक दिन होयतैक। एक दिन साँझ मे देखलियैन्ह रिहर्सल स जल्दि आबि गेलाह आ आबिते कहलाह "आजु हम लिखय के मूड मे छी आ एक दृश्यक रिहर्सल कतेक दिन होयत। अहाँ सब खेलाक बाद सुति रहु आ हमरा लेल चाय बना कs राखि दिय हमरा आजु नाटक पूरा करबाक अछि"। इ सुनतहि हम कहलियैन्ह हम सुति जायब ता अहाँक संवाद सब के सुनत। हम नहि सुतब अहाँ चिंता जुनि करू हम चाय बना बना कs अहाँके दैत रहब। राति मे बच्चा सब खेलाक बाद सुति रहलाह हम चाय बना कs राखि देलियैन्ह आ बैसि कs किछु समय हुनक संवाद सब सुनलियैन्ह मुदा किछु समय बाद नीँद आबय लागल तs सुति रहालौंह। अचानक नीँद खुजल तs देखलियैन्ह लिखिए रहल छलाह ओहि समय ठीक ४:३० होइत छलैक। हुनका लग गेलहुँ तs कहलाह आब खतमे पर छैक एक बेर चाय पिया दिय। हम उठि कs चाय बनेलहुँ आ चाय दुनु गोटे चाय पिलहुँ ५:३० बजे तक "लौंगिया मिरचाइ" नाटक पूरा छलैक। इ नाटक सेहो कैयाक टा पुरस्कार पौलक।

"मिस्टर नीलो काका" के बाद जे नाटक सबस बेसी लोकप्रिय आ चर्चित भेलैक ओ छैक बकलेल। २९-४-बकलेल के अन्तराष्ट्रीय मैथिली नाट्य प्रतियोगिता के लेल कलाकार भवन एहि सिनेमा मेक मंचन भेल। एहि नाटक के सर्वोत्तम नाटक, सर्वोत्तम आलेख , सर्वोत्तम निर्देशक, सर्वोत्तम बालकलाकार, सर्वोत्तम प्रकाश परिकल्पना आ सर्वोत्तम मंच सज्ज्या के पुरस्कार भेटलैक आ नाट्य प्रतियोगिताक निर्णायक मंडलक अध्यक्ष आ फ़िल्म निर्देशक " श्री प्रकाश झा" मंच पर पुरस्कार दैत समय "श्री लल्लन प्रसाद ठाकुर जी" कs प्रशंसा करैत पता आ फ़ोन नम्बर माँगि लेलाह।

बकलेल नाटक केर किछु मास बाद अचानक एक दिन प्रकाश जी के फ़ोन अयलैन्ह आ फ़ोन पर कहलथिन्ह जे ओ एकटा फिचरेट फिल्म बना रहल छथिन्ह आ ओहि फिल्म में मुख्य भूमिका करबा के छैन्ह, आ जल्दी दू तीन दिन के लेल पटना आबय परतैंह। ऑफिस सs छुट्टी लs पटना गेलाह आ दू तीन दिन के बाद आपस आबि गेलाहआपस अयला के बाद अपन ऑफिस स छुट्टी ल आ दू कलाकार के अयबाक लेल कहि चलि गेलाह। प्रकाश जी हुनका अपन कलाकारक चुनाव में सेहो रहबाक लेल कहने रहथि।

कलाकारक चुनाव सs शूटिंग धरि करीब डेढ़ मास लागि गेलैक। शूटिंग बेतिया लग गाम में भेल छलैक आ किछु बम्बई में।सिनेमाक नाम छलैक " कथा माधोपुर की " ई सिनेमा पंचायती राज पर बनायल गेल छैक। एहि सिनेमाक प्रेमिएर पटना में छलैक आ हम श्री लल्लन जी के संग ओहि के लेल पटना गेल छलहुँ।
ओना तs जमशेदपुर में १९८१ सs श्री लल्लन प्रसाद ठाकुर केर नाटक आ सांस्कृतिक गतिविधि शुरू भs गेल छलैन्ह मुदा मैथिली केर सेवा आ हुनका अपना संतुष्टि भेंटलैन्ह १९८३ में, जहिया ओ अपन लिखल पहिल मैथिली नाटक केर मंचन केलाह, मुदा ओहियो में किछु त्रुटि हुनका अपना बुझेलैन्ह।


मिथिलाक्षरक स्थापनाक बाद पहिल नाटक छलैक "मिस्टर निलो काका" जाहि केर पहिल मंचन जमशेदपुर में भेलैक आ दोसर मंचन "अन्तराष्ट्रीय नाट्य समारोह" पटना में। "मिस्टर निलो काका" क s मंचन केर बाद प्रतिवर्ष मैथिली भाषा भाषी के एकटा नाटक देबाक आ मंचन करबाक लेल प्रतिबद्ध श्री ठाकुर जी प्रतिवर्ष एकटा नाटक केर रचना करैत रहलाह आ ओकर मंचन होइत रहलैक। एहि बीच बिना कोनो अनुभव के एकटा मैथिली विडियो फ़िल्म सेहो बनौलाह। जमशेदपुर में पहिल फिल्मोत्सव श्री ठाकुर जी केर देन छैन्ह। प्रकाश झा जी केर सँग हुनक सिनेमा में काज केलाक बाद प्रकाश झा फिल्मोत्सव जमशेदपुर में भेल छलैक जाहि केर पूरा व्यवस्था श्री ठाकुर जी अपनहि कएने छलाह। त्रिदिवसीय नाट्य समारोहक केर इच्छा पहिल नाट्य समारोह सs छलैन्ह, ओ जमशेदपुर में भेलैक आ खूब नीक जकां संपन्न भेलैक।


प्रकाश झा जी के सात कड़ी वाला धारावाहिक "विद्रोह" केर शूटिंग से मदनपुर( बेतिया) केर जंगल जंगल आ बम्बई में भेलैक आ ओ शूटिंग के बीच में श्री ठाकुर जी केर मोन किछु ख़राब भs गेल छलैन्ह जाहि चलते ओ धारावाहिक केर शूटिंग जल्दी खतम होइते चलि अयलाह। हमरा से पता नहि कियैक जहिया सs श्री ठाकुर जी शूटिंग के लेल गेलाह मोन बहुत घबराइत छल। फोनक बेसी सुविधा नहि छलैक तथापि हुनका खबरि भेंट गेलैन्ह आ अपन शूटिंग खतम करि कs आपस आबि गेलाह।

Making Of A Video Film By Lallan Prasad Thakur

Mr. Lallan Prasad Thakur's first Maithili play in Jamshedpur was Badka Saheb( big officer). This was the only play which he did not do in the banner of Mithilakshar, an organization formed by him. This play was staged twice in his direction in Jamshedpur.


Mr. Thakur joined Tata Steel on 20th September 1977, and he joined an organization called Mithila Sanskritik Parishad in Jamshedpur. Its Mahila Shakha, a women wing was formed and few months after the formation of Mahila Shakha some of the members of Mithila Sanskritik Parishad approached and requested Mr.Thakur to stage a play for Mahila Shakha. He had just completed the script of Badka Saheb, so he excepted the invitation. I use to go with him in the rehearsal everyday.



The rehearsal started, this was my younger son's first play as an child artist. I remember every day there use to be some problem. The major problem was lady artist but that was solved. I have seen several drama created by the organizers during the rehearsal of this play. Any how, the play was very successfully staged but Mr. Thakur had such a bitter experience that he decided not do any play for any organization. But at the same time he wanted to do Maithili play also.


Before Badka Saheb he had done several safety dramas for TISCO which was in Hindi. For Maithili he had no option, so with a group of artists he formed an organization called Mithlakshar(Natya Ewam Sangeet Sanstha) . The only criteria for the membership was, person should be interested either in drama or music. He or she had played drama or had performed on stage was not necessary. There was no membership fees, only interested person were the member of Mithilakshar.


After joining Mithlila Sanskritik Parishad Mr. Thakur came close to a very nice and gentle person Mr. Balmukund Choudhary, who later on became his one of the closest friend. After formation of Mithilakshar he suported Mr. Thakur a lot in management etc. Even sometimes he had to act in the play. He is a tabla artist but only Mr.Thakur could make him act in a play. Some times he had to play tabla and he was always kept as a stand bye artist like me.


"Aadi Wa Ant"( beginning or end) is Mr. Lallan Prasad Thakur's last script of a play. This play was staged in Jamshedpur's Ravindra Bhavan and it was as usual very successful play and liked by the audience. After" Aadi Wa Ant" was staged Mr. Thakur wanted to do an experiment by making a video film. When he told me this idea I told him "how can you do this you don't have any experience about film making, you don't have any resources, even camera man you don't know who will work for you without money".He smiled and said, "wait I will do with the resources I have" and he started working on for the video film. He had to change some scenes and dialogues too. Most of the artist were the same, those who had acted in the play.


Loyola( B.Ed) College had two technician who use to shoot for their educational program. So Mr. Thakur approached them and they gladly accepted the offer but they said they don't know how to shoot a video film, they only shoot for the college and they had only one camera. Mr. Thakur with his blind supporter Mr. Choudhary convinced them and told them not to worry about it, he will direct them every thing and with one camera every thing will be done. The musician and makeup man were the same person who use to be with him in his plays. That time he had not seen a single shooting, the experience of film was zero and he was going to shoot a video film. He was in a leading role and he had to see every thing including direction and music direction.


The shooting was done on four five locations but the main shooting was done in one of our friends bungalow and the first scene started with bhratridwitiya (a festival of brothers and sisters). In the scene sister gives sweet to his brother in his mouth and the brother eats it, it is a custom of this festival. Since it was the first scene so it had lots of take, retake and the brother had to eat lots of sweets.


There were lots of events during the shooting which can be described but I am going to describe only few today. Mr.Thakur use to direct the camera man at what angle he needed the camera. In a scene Mr. Thakur had some important dialogues, so before going for his shot he explained the camera man and his assistant and went. During the shot the camera had to move but the camera man was not doing that and standing at a place and shooting. Mr. Thakur noticed that and during his dialogue delivery he started turning round his pointer finger. I was just behind the camera, I noticed it and immediately told the cameraman and he cached it. It was done in such a manner that no one can catch the movement of the finger. It looks like action needed for that scene.


There is a folk dance in that video film and before it starts there is an announcement coming in a news channel. Someone had to read that news so Mr. Choudhary was the news reader in that film and he had to read the news. For this shooting a hall was booked in an auditorium. The dancers, musicians, singers all were ready, Mr. Thakur use to sing also and he has written several songs, including the folk song which was in this video film. So after settling everything he sat with the singers and musicians. The news scene was the starting of the shots. So, the shot started with Mr. Choudhary, the news reader. When the shot was ready Mr. choudhary was called, every one was silent but as Mr. Choudhary entered for the shot and I saw him I started laughing and with me every one started laughing. Oh my god, he had to come in suit, for that he had gone to the dressing room but when he came he was wearing pyjama and coat with tie, he was looking so funny that all of us including Mr. Thakur and Mr. Choudhary himself laughed. Off course only the upper(coat) portion was coming in that scene. So after few minutes Mr. Thakur told everyone to be silent and the shot was taken. Even now while watching the movie, when I see that scene I laugh.


The last shot was taken in Jublee Park and that was for casting. This way the video film was made. Mr.Thakur himself did the editing of the film. Casting was also done by him. Now I have converted this film in DVD.(KUSUM THAKUR, PUNE)
A Talent Whom I Miss


My husband Lallan Prasad Thakur was a civil engineer by profession but he was an inborn artist. We generally don't see such type of talent in a person having technical background.He use to write drama scripts, act in a leading role, write it's lyrics and direct it. Acting was his passion and he acted in many plays since his childhood. He has written several Hindi and Maithli drama scripts which are now in form of books. Apart from that he use to write songs, poems, gazals, safety slogans, safety drama scripts, all in Hindi and Maithli. He has won several awards for his scripts, his directions, for his acting and even for his stage directions. Both my sons use to act in his plays and got several awards.


I have seen him writing, if he was in mood to write, he use to finish a full drama script in one stretch. I remember one or two of his dramas which he has written like that.Once he got an invitation for a play in a competition and after a meeting he decided to participate in that. The name of the play he announced in the meeting and date of the rehearsal was also fixed.Now he started thinking what drama to perform, he had a plot in his mind and he had a scene of it written.He use to have several plots for dramas in his mind and I had to listen his plots several times, not only plots, I had to listen all his dialogues several times also, during his script writing. So, the rehearsal also started on the schedule date with the first scene. I use to go with him everyday in all his rehearsals and both my sons were his child artist.


One day after his rehearsal he came and after tea he told me that today he was in a mood to write, secondly he had no options because he can't carry on the rehearsal with one scene, so after his dinner he is going to finish the script. He told me to make a flask of tea and go to sleep. After dinner children went to sleep, I made tea for him and kept it in the flask and went to sleep. At about 4:30 I woke up and went near him, he was still writing and told me to make tea for him. He said that the script was about to complete, so after making tea I also had tea with him, at 5:30 the script was complete. The play was very successfully played and got several prizes.


Once we went for a marriage of my cousin, there he met one of my mothers uncle, from his character he got a plot for his drama thus the script of his most popular play "Mister Nilo Kaka" was written. The main character of this play is an old man named "Nilo", who was very popular amongst his village people because of his humorous nature. The character Nilo never wanted to be said old man and he use to hate this word, as well as he had fear of snake. The youngsters use to tease him by saying old man. This play was staged twice in Mr. Thakur's direction, first in Jamshedpur which he organized himself, second time in the International Maithli Drama Festival. This was his first play outside Jamshedpur in Maithli and it was super hit and is still very popular. In a night he was the hero, after his play outside Jamshedpur.


Few days after" Mister Nilo Kaka" was staged in Jamshedpur he got an invitation for the international drama competition. Since the play was successfully staged in Jamshedpur and all the artist those who had acted in that play were available, he excepted the invitation. He had very less time for the competition but he was confident that this play would fetch several best awards. Again the rehearsal started, everything was going fine. I use to be with him in the rehearsal everyday and use to assist him. My younger son was also acting in that play so four of us use to go for the rehearsal. One day one of the artist named Lakshmikant who was doing the role of Sanichra came and said he had an unavoidable circumstances so he was going to his village but he will come within two three days and join. His role was not so big so Mr. Thakur was not worried about that but one day he got a message from one of the lady artist that she couldn't do the play because she was going out of the town. That day he was very upset, next day all of us went for the rehearsal but it was more like a meeting than a rehearsal. After rehearsal all the artist went home only four of us and Mr. Balmukund Choudhary Mr. Thakur's one of the closest friend stayed there back to decide what to do. Without lady artist the play was not possible, both Mr. Thakur and Mr. Choudhary were very worried and asked me what to do. Even I had no answer. Both of them went out of the room for few minutes and came back. Mr. Thakur came to me and said , how can we back out now, only few days are left for the drama festival. Now it has become our prestige, so you will have to do the role. I started laughing, I told them it's not possible, now my husband also started laughing but after few seconds he said," now I am not joking, you will have to do because we don't have any option, I know you can do it". I had no answer so it was decided that I will do the role of that lady artist.


Next day four of us went for the rehearsal. Everyday I use to go for the rehearsal and give my comments later on in the house but that day it was different,I was going as an artist.In the play main character " Nilo" was Mr. Thakur and I was his wife. All the artist were told that now I will be doing kaki's role, that was the character(lady artist) called in the play. The rehearsal started, I was called for the rehearsal,so I went near the stage but I was not able to do the rehearsal.I started laughing instead of delivering the dialogues. All my dialogues were with Mr. Thakur and as I looked at him I couldn't resist my self and laughed and so Mr.Choudhary. So, Mr.Choudhary was told to go out of the hall but even in his absence I was not able to deliver the dialogues because of my laugh. Any how other artists did there parts and we went home. Next day I thought I will not laugh and do the rehearsal seriously but when my turn came for the dialogue I again started laughing. This went on till the last day of the rehearsal. I never did the rehearsal with my husband, only some times he use to listen my dialogues at home. I was not satisfied with my rehearsal but he use to say to the artist don't worry she will do it on the stage," I am confident about her". Now the artist who had gone for his village didn't turn up and sent a message that he will join at Patna, where we had to go for the competition. We were worried but Mr. Thakur said not to be worried about it, if he doesn't turns up my elder son Bhaskar will do his role. So, we left for International Maithli Drama Competition.


We left for Patna, the whole team was excited, my elder son Bhaskar( Puttu) was told to see the dialogue of Sanichra. We reached Patna a day before our show and we had our stage rehearsal that day but Lakshmikant didn't turn up. Now my son Bhaskar was told to do the role of Sanichra.Since morning he had to do the rehearsal and in the afternoon we had our stage rehearsal.


On the show day we had our rehearsal in the hotel once or twice. In the evening Mr. Thakur with his family and all the artist was ready for the show. The show was super hit and Mr. Lallan Prasad Thakur got several prizes including best directors award. I got best character actress award and my son got best child actors award. This was Mr. Thakur's talent, I am lucky enough that I am his his wife and was with him for twenty three years.
